Aynaz Najafi
Unveiled

April 18 - May 16, 2026

I am a painter working within the visual language of Persian miniature, reinterpreting its aesthetic and symbolic traditions to address contemporary themes. My work engages with the socio-political realities of recent years in Iran, with a particular focus on the identity of Iranian women—their resilience, resistance, and acts of defiance.

Rooted in my lived experience as an Iranian woman, my practice draws from personal memory as well as collective narratives. I am also deeply influenced by Italian art history, especially Botticelli, whose poetic compositions and attention to form inform my approach to image-making.

By bringing together historical visual traditions and present-day concerns, I create layered spaces where past and present intersect. Through this work, I invite viewers to encounter a fleeting yet intimate perspective on what it means to exist as an Iranian woman today.
