Artist Talk
Inside the Studio
Makan Negahban in conversation with Alex K. Scull

May 9, 2026 | 3:30 to 4:30 pm

This artist talk is conceived as a studio conversation. The discussion unfolds as if taking place inside the artist’s working environment, focusing on process, decision-making, and the development of the works. It offers a closer look into the thinking behind the practice and the conditions in which the works are formed.

Alex K. Scull is Associate Vice President for Development, Arts at the University of Southern California. He joined USC in 2024 in a newly created role supporting its arts schools, museums, and programs. Prior to this, he served as Senior Director of Gift Planning and Principal Gifts for Arts, Culture, and Collections at the University of Texas at Austin, where he spent nearly seven years focused on building philanthropic support for the arts. Based in Los Angeles, he is also an active arts enthusiast and collector.
